MORE ABOUT THE EVENT

Currently, the park is filled with New Zealand flax that needs to be removed. But don’t worry, we have a fantastic plan to put this resource to good use.

Trees for Bermondsey has organized a free workshop at The Blue Market Place, where you can learn the ancient art of traditional “Harakeke” Maori weaving using flax. We have a skilled basket weaver who will guide participants through this unique experience. It’s a wonderful opportunity to embrace creativity and connect with nature.

Okinawa Day is coming soon

But that’s not all! To add even more excitement to the event, we have a special performance by London Okinawa Sanshinkai. They will dazzle you with their vibrant Japanese folk music and dance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Okinawa. This performance aims to raise awareness about the upcoming Okinawa Day, which will take place on Saturday, June 24th, in The Blue Market Place.

Mark your calendars and don’t miss out on this incredible event. Join us for a day filled with art, culture, and community as we transform Shuttleworth Park and celebrate Okinawan traditions. See you there!
