Greening The Blue

We are excited to announce a series of engaging and environmentally-focused events under the “Greening The Blue” initiative, proudly funded by ReLondon and delivered by Big Local Works. These events are designed for all ages and aim to promote recycling, upcycling, and waste reduction in our community.

Saturday 12 October / 12noon – 3pm

Learn how to recycle, upcycle and reduce your waste with an afternoon of environmental activities for all ages supported by ReLondon and BLW. Family workshop, clothes and toys swap shop, litter pick, help with recycling and reducing waste at home.

Reuse and Recycle Family Workshop 

Join local artist Hannah Metcalfe making signs using reclaimed material that promote our local recycling facilities and show people different ways they reduce waste and make a difference to our environment. Get creative, share your own tips on reducing waste at home.

Prepare for a spook-tacular Halloween celebration with face painting with Jo McCorrmick and prizes for the best fancy dress plus our Greening The Blue activities.

Pumkin Carving

Carve your own Jack-o-lantern at our free family workshop in The Blue Market Place.Our talented artists will be on hand to guide you through the process, ensuring that even the littlest hands can create something special. 

One Pumpkin per Family, while stocks last!

Workshop /Decorate photo frame with fabric scraps

Sat 26th October / 12:30 – 14:00

Up to 10 people / 6 years to adult

Each person will be given their own picture frame to decorate with fabric scraps which have been gathered from various sewing projects. The fabric will be glued to the frame by the participants according to their own individual style or design. At the end of the workshop people will be able to take their frames home to either repurpose or gift them as presents..

Peddle My Wheels Second-Hand Bike Markets at The Blue Market offer the opportunity to find a reliable, affordable, and serviced used bike to buy. If you have an old, unwanted bike to donate, please bring it during Second-hand bike market dates.

Workshop / Creating Bookmarks from scrap fabric and cardboard

Sat 30th October / 12:30 – 14:00

Up to 10 people / 6 years to adult

This up-cycling workshop is about making bookmarks from scrap fabric and cardboard. Each person will be given their own pieces of cardboard, repurposed from various packages, to decorate with scraps of fabric which have been collected from various projects. The fabric will be glued to the cardboard by the participants according to their own individual style or design. At the end of the workshop people will be able to take their bookmarks home to either use them or to gift as presents.
